What Open House and Tryout should I attend?

If you have not taken any Skating Skills (moves in the field) test yet, please attend the 2 pm-3 pm open house and try outs. If you have taken your Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary, or are currently working on your Pre-Juvenile test, please attend the 3 pm-4 pm open house and tryout. If you are on Juvenile and above, please attend 4 pm-5 pm.

Will I only be considered for the levels of teams for the Moves in the Field time slot I attend?

No! Roster placement will not depend on which time slot the skater is able to attend. Coaches take a holistic approach to roster placement and will place your skaters where they will be the most successful and foster the most positive growth in the upcoming season.

How and when will I receive my team placement?

Skaters and families will be notified via email the week of April 7th on their team placement. We will then hold a commitment meeting on May 14th to start the 2025-26 season.

Where should I go when I arrive at the Glenview Community Ice Center for Open House & Tryouts?

Once you arrive at the rink, please find the Blades check-in table in the main lobby! Please arrive 15 minutes before your tryout slot to check in.

Who can try out?

Any skater who is 5 years of age or older and has a basic level of figure skating completed. Skaters must have passed Basic 3.

What should I wear?

Please try your best to wear all-black, athletic clothing (non-baggy) with hair in a neat ponytail.

When do the teams practice and compete?

All teams begin practicing in the summer and compete in the fall/winter. Aspire competes in 3-4 local competitions per season. IJS teams compete 5 competitions throughout the Midwest, with the final competition of the season being the Midwestern Synchronized Skating Championships. Our teams also participate in exhibitions throughout the season and the annual Glenview Ice Show.

I want to join the Blades but cannot make it to tryouts. What should I do?

If you are unable to make it to tryouts, please email the coordinators (nicolemag27@gmail.com or emilystyzinski@gmail.com) and we will let you know about alternative options. We offer virtual tryouts.
